Designing the interiors of the Piaggio Apé electric brand showroom was truly an honor and a delightful experience for us. By revolutionizing the three-wheeler cargo segment in India, Apé has been a market leader and is currently setting Global standards across multiple arenas.
Our aim for the project was twofold. One was to create a brand book for the Apé electric brand. The second was to create a showroom design that would act as a blueprint for the nationwide launch of the Apé electric sub-brand.
Design in Details
Inspired by nature’s hard workers, the honey bees, we wanted to describe how strong, hardworking, and reliable a workhorse Apé was. So we integrated a honeycomb pattern, which is one of the strongest structural patterns in design, into the false ceiling.
We then painted it electric blue and backlit the false ceiling with LED lights to create a sci-fi themed visual experience. To further accentuate and highlight the design, we painted the ceiling black. This also suggests that the advanced line of products underneath were teleported directly from an alien spaceship.
The area next to the sofas is a product showcase area. The sofas were inspired by the modernist design, which originated at a time when man was obsessed with space exploration. This space was designed as a pause area where customers could wait till taken to the brand showcase area.
It holds a led touch screen nestled in an oval frame box that apes the new Apé electric digital instrument cluster. The touch screen houses the digital product brochure. The touchscreen area was specifically left large enough to future integrate a VR product experience.
The chairs are white and semi-transparent to impersonate a shrouding with an invisibility cloak. We chose white tables of perfectly straight lines to get a contemporary look, and we painted the walls white to maximize the sense of space.
We decided to go with faux wood flooring to hark back to the Italian Origins of Piaggio and Pondetera where the brand was born to help rebuild Italy after World War II. The central hexagon currently housing a brand Poster is designed to further integrate a projection screen showcasing brand reels in an open-plan space.
Incredible Result
Our objective was to design a space that truly represented the taking of the Apé brand into the future. We embodied how the brand believes electric to be the future of Automotive transportation and how Apé will be a Pioneer in the space.
